Yer Yee Lee and Ma Vang Lee Scholarship

Cher Yee Lee and Ma Vang Lee immigrated to the United States in 1979 because of the war in Southeast Asia and to provide their children a safer and better way of life. Together, they raised 11 children, five sons and six daughters, in St. Paul.  They have always placed a strong emphasis on education for all their children and believed that education is the path to a successful future.  Because of their love, dedication, and support, all of their children and their spouses are successful in their own right – thanks to Cher Yee Lee and Ma Vang Lee.

The Lee family understands the struggles that comes with a large family.  It is never easy growing up in a large family with so many brothers and sisters.  However, Ma and Cher Yee Lee were able to do it.  This scholarship was started in honor of the memory of Cher Yee Lee, who is now deceased and Ma Vang Lee who is still living.  Without their parents’ support their children would not have attained the success and educational level they have today.

This scholarship is presented by the Hmong American Education Fund.  The scholarship seeks to financially support one student in the pursuit of their educational goals.  The successful applicant will be awarded up to $1000.00 to the choice of a college or university.
