Mor Yang Living Legacy Scholarship

Mor Yang Living Legacy Scholarship

This Scholarship was made possible and donated by Dr. Ron Her

Born and raised in Laos, a country where education was scarce and poverty was abundant, Mor Yang realized at a young age that education is a universal tool for progress.  Although having an education was only a pipe dream for Mor, through unwavering grit she has turned her impossible aspiration into a reality for her children.

Enduring the harsh realities of being illiterate, a single parent and an immigrant Asian woman in America, Mor had to rely on her tremendous work ethic - the only asset she has - to support and inspire her children to pursue the American dream. After two decades of working minimum wage jobs, six of her children had graduated from college with three holding doctoral degrees. With pure grit and laser-like focus on her goal, Mor has been able to transform her children from living in the mountains of Laos to living the American dream using education as a tool.

While strong education is synonymous with her children, strong work ethic remains synonymous with Mor. At the age of 80, and after her children had officially retired her, Mor continues to work seven days a week. Although her work ethic no longer financially supports her children, it continues to inspire them.
